Revolving door patient,
Better locked up, isolated, out of the way of any risk,
This hasn’t been an easy journey,
Yet I genuinely look forward to each new day, the same days that I thought were out of reach and impossible to achieve or even set as goals,
The simplicity of showering, cooking dinner, collecting a prescription, for me, was so beyond thinking about for SO long!
And while I look back and see achievements and progress, as well as looking ahead and setting targets and milestones, I haven’t taken time to actually sit with myself and see that where I am right in THIS moment, here as I am, is so very different a place I believe I’ve ever been,
I’ve achieved periods of stability, and counted my milsstones,
I’ve reached dates and got longer each time, but I somehow feel I wasn’t ever this content,
It’s early days, and I have learned not to take the good days for granted,
But I am finally accepting and finding a balance with recovery and life,
My life is not specific to my recovery, I don’t want everything about me to be about the relapses and crises I’ve had to pull myself out of, or the lives I’ve crushed too many times to count,
I’m studying my psychology degree, and for the first time, I think for me, the balance is helping others using my lived experience,
The very thought of supporting others to heal the mental wounds that exsist in alot of young people, I feel it also heals and makes peace with younger Rhi,
Healing takes time, hard work, patience and consistency,
We all have the ability!
Live the life that makes you proud from all angles,
Because when you reflect in afew years, you might be in a place that was once a long term goal, and only YOU can make it happen!
